Oompa-Loompa Time: Draft 2018

I'm beginning to wonder if Stan Bowman refuses to select players taller than he is.  Are they frightening to him?
Anyway, here's a small sample (hey-oh!) of draft-related information.

Average Height of The Blackhawks first four draft selections = 5' 10"
Average Weight = 176 lbs
Why, it's a regular Lollipop Guild.

All kidding aside (I'm not even kidding), maybe there's something here.  Adam Boqvist (8th overall) has all the material to be an elite puck-schlepper and has been mighty score-y to boot.  Duncan Keith isn't a particularly big guy (but plays bigger than he is) and has done okay, I guess, and lads such as Brian Campbell and Nick Leddy weren't too bad for smallish d-men (but somehow play smaller than they are, but that's not for now), so never say never and all that.

I know nothing of the other selected players apart from what I've read in the last day.

Anyway, I remember pissing and moaning about Stan wasting their top pick back in 2016 on 5' 2", 115 lb Alex DeBrincat and that's actually working out not too badly, so I'll shut up now.

Alex Debrincat would like to remind you that he is actually 5'3", 137lbs

"Caps' Kempny could be one of best value trades in history"

It’s a turn of events that has shocked even Kempny, who requested the trade from Chicago after languishing as a healthy scratch under Joel Quenneville...
“The trade probably saved me,” Kempny said. “When you don’t play 13 games in a row, you just work out and skate, you don’t feel like a part of the team. I felt like the last warm body on the bench. You feel like nothing.”
Catch the full story here: The Wisdom Of Quenneville
But we've already seen that one, right?
Rather late end-of-season wrap + draft stuff and miserable prognosis for next season forthcoming.
